Instead of finding real solutions to their problems, do you treat your customers like dollar signs and push unnecessary products on them? Did you ever think that by doing this, you may actually be losing money? It’s a scary thought, but has a lot of truth to it. Let’s say your customer comes in for a $20 basic product and you up-sell them on excessive $45 model instead. It’s true that you gain a little bit immediately, but in the long run, you may be losing that customer. If they leave your store feeling taken advantage of or manipulated into buying something that was more than they wanted or needed, you will most likely never see that customer again. This will result in long term money loss for your business.
So was the up-sell worth it? Probably not! In order to create a customer relationship that will give them reasons to come back again and again, focus your attention on giving them the high quality product that best suits their needs--consistently.
